Could always be better..., 10.3.2011
Reviewer: Dakota Dominick (Brooklyn, NY)
I purchased these boxes without any inserts assuming I would get about 16 cupcakes per box. I actually got 16 in the box without any smashing of the cupcakes. The only downside to all of this is that about 15 out of 100 boxes were missing the clear window or it was damaged and falling off prior to assemly. This doesn't sit too well with me. One or two damaged ones isn't so b ad, but 15 is too great a number to have for a box that I cannot use. Also, if there is any moisture in your hands, that will smear on your boxes and it is not appealing to customers. This is only applicable to the kraft colored boxes, I am not sure about any other colors.

Hi Dakota
I read your review and would like to respond! Thank you first of all for the review...it points out one thing we hear now and then and another we don't usually hear.
Natural Kraft - is like a sponge in a way. It is a matting of fibers of partially recycled brown unbleached paper like from a grocery bag or a corrugated box, plus partially new wood fibers that are a lot finer than human hair. When your hands are wet (or greasy) and the touch the surface it's like touching a brown paper towel the water (or oil) is sucked up into the fibers rather easily. The water will dry and disappear. Oil from cooking is not going to go away. It will stay visible and appear darker and cannot be wiped off because the oil is now inside the box not on the surface. If it was a white box with a smooth finish usually created by either white clay powder used during the paper making process or a varnish finish the water or oil is not absorbed in and doesn't discolor the surface like the kraft does.
Windows that are damaged I need to know more about to comment. Was the outer carton damaged? Or is it possible the windows were not glued properly, not sure if you can see this by looking but you should be able to. If you can let me know I can ask the plant to replace the 10-15 you found with windows that were not affixed for whatever reason. The plant will want to know why though because that way they can try and find out what caused it. Sometimes they even mark what shift or what machine ran each carton of boxes and they then can address the operator if it's a bigger issue.
Please follow-up with me so I can try to resolve your issue with the windows. As noted there isn't much that can be done but keep your hands somewhat clean when handling the boxes but with cupcakes and icing there will be oil on the fingers I know and it's problematic but the kraft looks very natural and is popular because of that.
