{"id":298,"date":"2015-10-15T20:43:19","date_gmt":"2015-10-15T20:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/?p=298"},"modified":"2024-08-10T17:46:48","modified_gmt":"2024-08-10T22:46:48","slug":"what-size-take-out-bag-should-i-get","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/what-size-take-out-bag-should-i-get\/","title":{"rendered":"A Must Watch if You&#8217;re Sick and Tired of Using T Shirt bags &#8211; Meet the Super Wave and Ameritote Bags"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Let&#8217;s talk about two of our most popular <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/store\/bags.html\">take out bags<\/a>&#8230; the <strong><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/store\/plastic-wave-style-bags.html\">Super Wave<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/search.html?q=ameritote\">Ameritote<\/a><\/strong> bags.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While they&#8217;re strong, super supportive and attractive bags&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sometimes they leave folks scratching their heads when it come to determining the right size bag to go with.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, the geniuses that we are, we thought we&#8217;d put together this little video to hopefully help you understand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Check it out or read the breakdown below&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ddUZ9F06MCs\" width=\"854\" height=\"480\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, if you&#8217;re not into videos and are more of a reader like myself, here&#8217;s the long and short of it&#8230;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The bags I&#8217;m talking about, once again, are the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/store\/plastic-wave-style-bags.html\">Super Wave<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/shop.html?Search=ameritote\">Ameritote<\/a><\/strong> bags.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While these two bags are very similar to one another, the obvious difference is that the Super Wave bag has it&#8217;s handles &#8220;cut out&#8221; of the bag itself. This is what&#8217;s called a <strong>Die Cut Handle<\/strong>. And on the other hand, the Ameritote bag has two soft loop handles securely attached to it.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And compared to others bags, having these types of tops makes them super easy to load because nothing gets in your way.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You may recognize them from places like the <strong>Cheesecake Factory, Qdoba and Wendy&#8217;s<\/strong>.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-315 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/aa.png\" alt=\"aa\" width=\"839\" height=\"469\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/aa.png 839w, https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/aa-300x168.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 839px) 100vw, 839px\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">One of the reasons they&#8217;re so popular is because <strong>they are 2 to 3 times as thick as regular T shirt bags or &#8220;Thank You&#8221; bags<\/strong> that you&#8217;re probably familiar with.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">What that means to you is <strong>they won&#8217;t tear or split like a T shirt bag<\/strong>. You see, these bags are made of a unique blend of both high density and low density poly so they won&#8217;t tear. And so, they can hold much more weight inside of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-316\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cc.png\" alt=\"cc\" width=\"840\" height=\"466\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cc.png 840w, https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/cc-300x166.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 840px) 100vw, 840px\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The other great feature about these bags (<em>and the cause of sizing confusion<\/em>) is that they have a <strong>BOTTOM GUSSET <\/strong>which gives them a <strong>flat bottom<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, first off, you might be wondering&#8230; <em><strong>&#8220;What&#8217;s a gusset&#8221;?<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A gusset is just a fancy schmancy word for the extra material that&#8217;s inserted into a seam to add width or depth to a bag.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, here&#8217;s the thing. Bags <strong>NORMALLY<\/strong> have their gussets on the vertical sides of the bags&#8230;<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-320\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/ll.png\" alt=\"ll\" width=\"810\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/ll.png 810w, https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/ll-300x169.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 810px) 100vw, 810px\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">However, both the Super Wave and Ameritote bags have their gusset on the bottom.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And what this bottom gusset does is that it allows your <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/store\/boxes-containers.html\">to-go boxes or containers<\/a><\/strong> to sit flat inside the bag. <strong>That way your food doesn&#8217;t tip over or spill out<\/strong>.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">That even reminds me of another great feature of these bags&#8230; there&#8217;s no bottom seam. That&#8217;s right. <strong>NO SEAM<\/strong>. So even if the bag bumped into something and food spilled out of the containers inside, it won&#8217;t leak out of the bag all over the place.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, now that we understand that&#8230; let&#8217;s talk about these sizes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You see, because the gusset is on the bottom and the sides are now &#8220;pinched&#8221; (without a gusset), the inner space is going to contract as you open the bag up. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As you can see from the image below, the length of the bag is going to get smaller and change shape as you open the bag and place a box in it.<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-318\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/gg1.png\" alt=\"gg\" width=\"705\" height=\"448\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/gg1.png 705w, https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/gg1-300x191.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 705px) 100vw, 705px\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For example, let&#8217;s look at a 15 x 14 x 5&#8243; super wave bag.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And just so you know, the order of those #&#8217;s are&#8230; <strong>Length X Height X Bottom Gusset<\/strong>. So, this bag is 15&#8243; across, 14&#8243; high, and has 5&#8243; bottom gusset. Capisce?<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, while you might think you have 15&#8243; to play around with&#8230; you don&#8217;t. Like we said, the length will contract in. With this size bag, it will actually only fit a box or container that&#8217;s 10 x 5&#8243; or less.\u00a0<\/span> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-324\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/pp.png\" alt=\"pp\" width=\"830\" height=\"453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/pp.png 830w, https:\/\/www.mrtakeoutbags.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/pp-300x164.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 830px) 100vw, 830px\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-container\"><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Here&#8217;s how to figure out <ins>what<\/ins> size take out bag will work for you&#8230;<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Because the sides don&#8217;t have any gussets, more or less, all of the available space you&#8217;re going to get is going to come from the length of the bag. Remember, the first number. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">And because there&#8217;s two sides to the bag, you would just <strong>double the length to get the total maximum area that a particular bag size will fit<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Let&#8217;s go back to this example of the 15 x 14 x 5&#8243;. So 15 multiplied by 2 gives you 30&#8243;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, for a box to fit inside this bag, the total perimeter (or measurement going around the entire box) would need to be equal to or preferably less than 30&#8243;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Let&#8217;s do the math on a box that&#8217;s 10 x 5&#8243;. <strong>Adding all 4 sides together<\/strong> (10+10+5+5) gives me 30&#8243;. Whollah.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">So, there you have it.
